@gargams @bortzmeyer alors c'est faisable, tu peux m'écrire à contact@mail.immae.eu pour qu'on voie les modalités ensemble ?

@clementd @RGrunblatt alright, as long as you know the implications 👍 (solving this issue is in my todo list, I will probably not propose a serious mastodon sevice until I find a way to do that part correctly)

@clementd @RGrunblatt Wait this cannot work due to the other comment I made: if you "alias" it to, say, the server behind mastodon.social then people will all get @mastodon.social in their database and not the one you gave them. (it’s a double query, delafargue.name/.well-known/... will give an url linking to mastodon.social/.well-known/... and that url will en the one that the target will keep in their database, and it will never be something with your domain)

Fediverse / mastodon

@bortzmeyer openapi then? I’m not sure I get what you’re trying to specify here (I thought you wanted to specify a content standard - independently of the transport -, hence the jsonschema)

@bortzmeyer You’re thinking of things like jsonschema for instance? There are a few standardizations that exist and is widely supported in many programming languages

@hynek @clementd to give maybe a more similar story: gmail embraced xmpp long ago, then some day (when everyone had their chatting account hosted by them) they said "we close federation", and people outside of gmail.com effectively lost their buddies (and later xmpp at gmail became something else). What would be preventing that for activityPub?

@clementd @hynek That doesn’t prevent big actors from proposing "better" products and "simpler" ergonomics to take over and dictate their rule by effectively pushing out smaller actors and still pretending they’re the "fediverse". Spam was not part of the question here

@clementd @hynek I had thoughts about exactly that in the last days: will some big mastodons (pun not unintended) take over the fediverse like gmail or microsoft did for e-mail and we’ll end-up with a fediverse whose rules end up being in practice dictated by them? What can we do to prevent that? (and is that even preventable?)

@clementd a bit more effort and you’ll end up with the debian logo

@clementd yes the stack part and the torus I got it (first things I "tested" 😁), I just wrote it linear as any sane programmer would do 😛
